Black Friday Tips and Bloghop
Black Friday.
I love it.
With four kids, a husband, (Me, LOL) and countless family and friends to buy for, I count on Black Friday.
So, what tips do I have for you?
1) Pay attention to the ads. If you know you shop somewhere a lot, sign up for their emails. You’ll get first-hand deals all through the year, not just Black Friday.
2) Don’t use credit to shop. I’ve been there, done that, getting into debt to give my kids a good Christmas. It takes longer and costs more to pay off, so really, it’s a BAD idea…. unless…
3) Since I only have a limited amount of money saved up for Christmas, cause, you know, all the year round bills, I capitalize on Intrest Free credit cards.
– Home Depot is 0% for 6 months if you spend $299 or more. Do I need $300 worth of presents from them? Usually, no. They let you buy gift cards using credit, so that’s what I do. Then, next month when I need to buy something from HD, guess what? Yup. Gift cards.
-Amazon.com is 0% for 6 months if you spend $149 or more. I don’t know about gift cards, but I can always spend that much there between books for everyone in the family, friends, (Again, Me)…
-Walmart is running a special right now 0% for 6 months on ANY purchases made in Nov & Dec. I admit, I didn’t have a Walmart card, but when I saw this, I got one. Why? They had a high ticket item (XBox 360 Kinects bundle, which is good out-of-your-seat & family game play for the whole family). As soon as I pay it off, I’ll close the card.
Now, KEY: I’m not advocating using credit cards for Christmas shopping. (See #2)
But, if you’re like me and don’t have a hefty chunk of money for Black Friday, then shop wisely.
ANOTHER NOTE: If you’re approved for a $2500 card, PLEASE, PLEASE, don’t use it all.
You still have to pay it off, and in order to capitalize on the 0% interest, you must pay it off in the time allotted. Tonight (cause I do a lot of shopping online on Thanksgiving day – see sign up for emails) I purchased the majority of gifts I’ll be buying this year, through Amazon.com which has killer deals and usually reads ads so they can match your local sales, and Walmart (RE: Big item). I spent $400.
In order to pay that off in 6 months, it will cost me about $67 a month.
Yeah, I can afford that.
But I couldn’t afford to pay interest.
So, that’s my little bit of advice.
Now for the good stuff:

I’d rather die than shop on Black Friday. Besides, I’m having a great time doing this blog hop. jay9moore@gmail.com
Great shopping advice!! I have never had a credit card in my life. I’ve always been afraid to get one, because I know myself I would max it out in no time. I like to start shopping after Christmas. When the retail world goes into Spring mode and all the winter stuff goes on Clearance. I can buy more for everyone without spending more. And I shop year round when there are great sales and deals going on.
Good luck to those of you out there today shopping 🙂

I don’t do credit cards at all. In this house all bills and everything else are paid in cash up front so I don’t have to worry about it later on down the road. While I didn’t go our for black friday when I do I go out with cash and don’t spend more than I have.

I love black Friday shopping! I avoid Walmart, Best Buy, and Toys R Us. I just got everything I wanted at Target – including the electronics! I use bfads (dot) net if I am trying to track down the best deal for a specific item.
Thanks for the Blog Hop giveaways!

Credit cards are a bad, bad thing for me. I won’t use them unless I get the no interest for so many months.
Thanks for participating in the blog hop, this is so much better than going out of the house, freezing, and into hoards of shoppers!

No Black friday shoppping! No credit cards to worry with!
Love the giveaway!

Years ago, I started shopping early…like in March. As I saw items, I would buy them and pay off the credit card at the end of the month. That method worked well for me; I had my shopping completed early and didn’t have a large debt.
Thanks for the giveaway.
Thanks,

I agree about not using credit cards but if you do, do it wisely, know ahead of time how much it will take to pay it off without incurring so much interest. I have been saving a bit for this particular shopping day and used only cash. We shopped last night, found our deals and were home by midnight! Thanks for being part of the Blog Hop!!

What a great blog hop. I’m hopping along.
Gift cards are wonderful ideas and NOT charging everything is another fantastic tip.
My grandfather used to say that my grandma kept shopping even when the money was gone because she still had checks in her checkbook. LOL!
Just because you have a credit card, doesn’t mean you have to race to reach the limit. Great post!! 🙂
Happy Holidays!

No, No, No…Black Friday, if there is any shopping to be done…it’s online for me! Saves toes that way!
barbbattaglia@yahoo.com
Yes, it’s tempting to want to fill up a new credit card when you get approved for a big credit limit, especially when there are great deals going on. But better to hold back and think about how to pay for things that wouldn’t stretch your budget.
Thanks for being part of this giveaway. Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Shopping on a Black Friday is just not for me (unless it’s online shopping of course). I hate crowds and rude people.

Online shopping is the way for me. No lines, no stress, no traffic. I did Black Friday once, not knowing the whole concept of it and it was an interesting experience. But nowadays, it is getting more violent as the years go by. So, I might consider myself being a coward but I see it more as being safe than sorry.
Awesome giveaway and thanks for the great tips!

You are a far braver woman than I, Gunga Din. LOL We decided several years ago that Christmas meant money, not plastic. It’s so nice to have no bills come rolling in after the first of the year! Thanks for the blog hop. It’s been way more fun than shopping!
Thanks for the chance to win! Happy Black Friday!

That’s great advice about the credit cards, too bad not many will heed the it. Save all year is the best way and watch the prices.
There will be more sales than just on Black Friday. And some be even better.
